With a rich educational background, Mr. Dowla embarked on his academic journey with a bachelor's degree in Physics from the prestigious University of Dhaka. His quest for knowledge then took him to the University of Karachi, where he earned his master's degree in Public Administration, thanks to a scholarship from The Asia Foundation. This solid foundation in science and administration equipped him with the analytical skills and strategic thinking necessary for a successful career in business.

Mr. Dowla's professional journey began at the British Oxygen Group, a UK-based multinational company. Starting as an Assistant Sales Manager in Chittagong, he quickly rose through the ranks, serving the company's divisions in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Kenya. His 27-year tenure with British Oxygen included 12 years as the Managing Director of Bangladesh Oxygen Limited, making him the first Bangladeshi to hold such a position within the company.

In 1987, Mr. Dowla took on a new challenge as the Group Managing Director of three Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) companies in Bangladesh. When ICI divested its shareholding in 1992, Mr. Dowla seized the opportunity to steer the company towards new horizons, rebranding it as Advanced Chemical Industries (ACI). Under his visionary leadership, ACI has grown into one of Bangladesh's largest and most diversified conglomerates, spanning pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, agribusiness, and retail.

Mr. Dowla's contributions to the business community extend beyond ACI. He has served as the President of the Narayanganj Chamber of Commerce and Industries and held multiple terms as President of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dhaka. His leadership roles also include serving as the President of the Bangladesh Employers' Federation and the Bangladesh Employers' Association, where he has made significant contributions to industrial relations in the country.

In addition to his business acumen, Mr. Dowla holds several key positions in various organizations. He is the Chairman of Pioneer Insurance Company Limited and a Director of the Credit Rating

Agency of Bangladesh. His dedication to education is evident through his role as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Independent University of Bangladesh. He also leads the Bangladesh

Association of Publicly Listed Companies as its President.

Dr. Arif Dowla's academic achievements are the evidence of his profound intellect. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego, where he immersed himself in the complexities of quantitative analysis and advanced mathematical theories. His scholarly pursuits extended beyond mere academics; he is a distinguished member of the American Mathematical Society and the Society of Quantitative Analysts in New York, reflecting his ongoing engagement with the global mathematical community.
In June 2005, Dr. Arif Dowla worn the role of Managing Director at ACI Limited, a position that saw him stepping into the shoes of his esteemed predecessor with a vision to innovate and expand. Prior to this, he served as the Deputy Managing Director from September 2000, where he demonstrated his adeptness in managing the intricate workings of a conglomerate. His strategic foresight and dynamic leadership have been pivotal in transforming ACI into one of Bangladesh's largest turnover-based conglomerates.
Under Dr. Arif Dowla's stewardship, ACI Limited has seen remarkable diversification and growth. His tenure as the former Chairman of Mutual Trust Bank from 2012 to 2014 underscored his prowess in financial leadership.
